SITE INTEGRITY was maintained through the oversight of the three co-directors of ENSI: Dr. Jean Beard (Department of Biological Sciences, San Jose State University, San Jose, CA), Dr. Craig E. Nelson (Department of Biology, Indiana University, Bloomington, IN), and Dr. Martin Nickels (Anthropology Program, Illinois State University, Normal, IL) as well as through continuous feedback from the many ENSI and SENSI teachers, professors, and other users of the ENSIWEB site.

Memorial tribute to Larry Flammer

Lawrence (Larry) Flammer served as webmaster for the ENSWEB for many years. All of the ENSIWEB pages were improved by his intense scrutiny and most were expanded or authored by him. Larry passed away in December 2017.

Larry taught college preparatory biology to junior and senior high school students for 38 years. His love for teaching, respect for students, and admiration for the wonder/power of biological processes was surpassed only by the deep love he expressed for his family. The instructional insights described in the initial case were derived in large part from being tried and refined in Larry’s classroom.

His service in retirement to the ENSI project as its webmaster permitted thousands of biology teachers access to lesson plans and instructional resources designed specifically to enhance instructional success in teaching evolution and the nature of science.
